Postponement of fishing competition: Red Sun Rising

Due to the persistent haze, tomorrow’s competition will be postponed to next Sunday or beyond.

Air quality in Klang Valley has deteriorated progressively with four locations recording unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings (101-200) as of 5:00 pm yesterday. As usual Port Klang is most unhealthy at 147 followed by Kuala Selangor (129), Shah Alam (120) and Cheras (105).

The near term forecast is not good. Both the Department of Environment and Indonesian authorities expect the situation to worsen with the hot and dry spell in the Riau district of Sumatra set to peak over the next two weeks. Therefore if it is not possible to have a competition in June, there shall be two competitions in July to make up for the loss.

The effect of the haze is to cast our sun in red.

  1. Light rain and wind have temporarily made conditions much better. Oh well.
