All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others – Animal Farm by George Orwell, 1945

Dear Ben,

As you are aware, there shall be no construction activities on Sundays. The picture below of two adjoining properties show that the owners pay heed to this guideline made by GCD.

No workers around. Property on the right does not have a hoarding.

However, the same cannot be said of the construction taking place along Damar Bayu 1, which is being handled by GCD’s sister company, Comtract Sdn Bhd. It was business as usual today, as you can see in these pictures.

A number of residents have written emails copied to you expressing their unhappiness over construction work on Sundays. We even discussed this at the last GCD-GCROA meeting on February 16 and a number of complaints have been made in the past. But this is full fledge!

As you are an intelligent person, I should be forgiven for believing that you have a wanton disregard for the feelings of residents. It is a rule made with common sense; Sundays are days of rest and residents deserve some tranquility. While owners abide by the regulation that GCD had set, Comtrac is allowed to carry on regardless. Are the rights of the residents always second to your company’s expediency?

I have no doubt that at the forthcoming GCROA AGM, this matter will be brought up if you do not put an immediate stop to this. Believe me, it will not be just talk.

Anyway, to end on a brighter note, there is a wedding on Damar Bayu 3. Congratulations to the happy couple, Hanafi & Harezan!

Cheers.

Johann

  1. Gary Geh says:

This among others things are not in order at GC. We have a long way more to go. Definitely have my support on this
    .
    1) Substandard and expensive security guards
    2) No security equipment
    3) Unusable jetty
    4) Unusable boat ramp
    5) Deteoriating landscape
    6) Unfulfilled promises for access road improvement
    The list goes on.
One thing is for certain… GCD’s lack of action.
